About the Author

Jed Morris spent ten years on active duty in the United States Air Force. He earned his MBA at NYU Stern. He worked four years in big tech. Then he did the thing this book is about: he bought a business.

In 2023 he bought two landscaping companies and merged them. Eight months later the business failed. He missed payroll. He carried more than $1 million in personally guaranteed debt. The business went bankrupt, and his family lost their home in the settlement. They started over.

Today Jed runs an investment firm, teaches business buyers, and writes the Still Searching newsletter. He has talked with more than sixty buyers whose deals failed or nearly failed. Their stories, and his, are why this book exists. He lives in San Diego with his family.
